First published by Yaşar Nabi Nayır in July 15, 1933 - only ten years after the establishment of the republic and five yaers after the transition to the Latin alphabet - "Varlık" is one of the oldest and still circulating cultural journals in the world. Due to its active role in the formation and development of our literature, it has been described by many writers, poets and critics as "the magazine which created the new Turkish literature.""Varlık" is mainly a literary magazine but it also covers a variety of topics ranging from current affairs to politics, religion, sociology, linguistics, arts and many others.The selected articles focus on issues such as economic development, rural education , Turkish society in transition , literary currents and criticism, spanning teh entire 75 years of Varlık’s history.
